the ippy (aka ipswich golf club leichhardt)

Recently, whilst I was scrolling through our page, I happened upon a request for us to visit this venue. Having been some years since I had been to the club myself (in fact, I’m not even sure where my golf clubs are at the moment), I figured now was a good time to catch up.

I was invited to participate as an escort for a school formal – well, not me so much as Scooter, poser that she is, after which we decided to trek across the one mile bridge to check out the culinary delights now available in this old Ipswich stalwart.

Alright, let’s have a look at what we ordered:

Toasted Cheese & Garlic Bread $ 9.00

Teys Mixed Grill

– Rib fillet, wagyu sausage, bacon, fried eggs, tomatoes, chips and gravy $20.00

- Add on full sized Pork Cutlet $10.00

Spinach and Cheese Tortellini

– Tossed with roast pumpkin, cherry tomatoes, pine nuts and basil in a creamy sauce topped with parmesan $20.00

The post specifically asked me to try the Mixed Grill, so that was a no brainer. I did however convince the staff to add in a pork cutlet which I noticed on the main menu came from Kingaroy, and I’m glad I did. The pork cutlet was definably delicious and would be well worth having as a full meal. I requested that my steak be cooked medium rare and that’s exactly what I got. Portion sizes of the meat on the mixed grill exceeded my expectations, the modest salad was fresh, colourful and delicious, and the chips were sensational. For this evening’s mischief, I paired my meal with a pint of Byron Bay Pale Ale which they had on tap.

Sharon’s generous serve of Tortellini was well cooked and flavoursome and we even got to take some home in a doggy bag for the next day.

All in all a great feed for less than $60.00 (and that was only because I HAD to try the pork) and the staff were friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. So, if you haven’t been out that way in while, I suggest you swing by. Bums on seats people, bums on seats.
