You know how I love to report on the Ipswich food scene – well, this was an extra treat! Ipswich now has its’ very own pretzel shop, and not an American styled pretzel shop – these owners pride themselves on using a traditional German recipe for their bread.
The menu for the store changes regularly, to keep it interesting. On the day we were there, they were serving some super tasty treats, along with some locally brewed non-alcoholic beverages which I though was pretty cool. Let’s have a look at what we ordered.
I had the I’m Cured Pretzel – with Harissa, Salami & Cheese ($12.00) and Sharon had the Piggy Pretzel – with Bacon & Cheese ($16.00). We then shared the Undercover Doughnut ($8.00)
You might remember some time ago that we did an article on Nordic pizza. Well, these guys do flat bread so like a pizza but not a pizza, and it’s damn tasty. I had mine with their house-made hot sauce and it was really good – I loved it!
I’ll definitely be ordering that again, (I may have a cheeky word to the chef and see if I can get some in a bottle to take home too).
Sharon’s Piggy Pretzel was so good. With lots of butter, smokey bacon and melted cheese, I reckon that these will sell like hotcakes on rainy days and they are a great choice for the kids too. Though my photo does not do it justice, it tasted amazing. Actually, while I’m writing this I’m thinking I might just nip down and see if I can grab another one of these tasty treats.
We finished off with the Undercover Doughnut Pretzel (once again made fresh in store) and it came out hot and delicious. I wouldn’t mind a bag of those either – you know, for later…..
These guys are a great addition to the Ipswich Mall and we are very lucky to have them. The more the food scene grows in Ipswich, the better it is for all local food scene, so get out there and support these guys.
After we’d finished our meal we wandered just a short way down the mall and came across the Gelato shop. Anyone would think we were on holidays on the coast, but No – we can do this anytime we like, right here in Ipswich and I LOVE it.
I’m so proud to have Ipswich as the hub of what we like to call The 2 Hour Circle!
