hello harry

A last minute decision to go out for dinner on Valentine’s Day left us wondering what we felt like. The decision was burgers. Yeah, I know there’s a bit of a theme lately, but you can find romance anywhere, right? A short ride later and we were ushered to our table by our chirpy waitress and handed the menus. Sooo many choices and they all sounded fantastic.

Alright boys, imagine this if you will - double smashed beef, double cheese, grilled chicken, crispy bacon, pickles, American mustard, tomato jam and mayonnaise and a pint of larger to smash it down with. Whilst the good old Australian works burger will always hold a special place in my heart, I tried a burger that I would, no joke, fight a rabid dog for! Admittedly, it was the most expensive burger on the menu at Hello Harry Jindalee, however, it was also the favourite of my most recent burger experiences.

I gotta say, I’d be pretty keen to have a Hello Harry’s here in Ipswich– anything to give that other clown a run for his money (see what I did there). At the moment I am absolutely loving the American style burgers that have hit the local market and the best thing about this place – the beef is 100 percent from Kilcoy, (up there in yowie country) and all the sauces, seasonings, marinades and salts are prepared in house, even the buns are handcrafted.

I also tried the Southern Fried Chicken burger and the thing I loved about it was the crunch of the hand breaded, buttermilk chicken breast and the sting of jalapenos on my very first bite. As chicken burgers go, this was definitely a great way to “get some sauce in your beard”.

Sharon’s choice for the evening was the Pitt Master Burger with Texan brisket, Louisiana pulled pork, double cheese, caramelized onion, mixed slaw, chipotle mayo and a BBQ glaze. It wasn’t long before she had the need for those serviettes and she really enjoyed this one. Personally though, I had bite and although this was a good burger, I must say that I think the local BBQ smoker guys do this better.

Of course, Sharon wouldn’t leave without trying the dessert, after all it certainly sounded intriguing. Harry’s Famous Dessert Bombs! Too tempting for her. A Flash fried bun, rolled in cinnamon, filled with ice-cream and salted caramel sauce. Need I say more? She loved it.

Now, whilst I would really like to see these guys come to Ipswich, in the meantime, I’m happy to get Scooter out of the shed and go for a night ride. So, if you would like an invite for my next trip there (and there definitely will be one), let me know in the comments and I will extend the invitation when we’re heading out next.

Do you know a business who does a great burger? Let them know about our burger promotion so they too can showcase what they have to offer.
